Swarmers: These winged termites are reproductive individuals that emerge from mature termite colonies to establish new colonies and can typically be found near windows, doors, or light sources.
Hollow-Sounding Wood: Termites burro in wood and feed on wood from the inside out, leaving them hollow inside. If you tap or knock on wooden structures in your home, such as walls, floors, or furniture, and they sound hollow or papery, it could be a sign of a termite infestation.
Mud Tubes: Termites will build mud tubes along your home’s foundation to create a protective tunnel between their nests and food sources. If you notice mud tubes, it’s a clear indication to call a pest control company for termite control.
Discarded Wings: After swarmers mate, they shed their wings. You may find discarded wings near windowsills, doorways, or other areas where swarmers have entered your home. This is a strong indication that a termite colony is nearby.
Droppings: Termite droppings resemble small wood-colored pellets and will be found near infested areas, such as windowsills, baseboards, or crawl spaces. An exterminator will determine if these are termite droppings and create the best termite treatment plan for your property.
